4-YEAR-OLD & 5-YEAR-OLD KINDERGARTENS

THE EXPERIENCE

It is our belief at Edgewood Campus School that each kindergartner is a precious gift entrusted to us. We teach through example, as we model the values and ideals that guide children to learn respect for self, others, and the environment. It is a joy to watch these little ones as they grow in self-confidence and self-esteem!

Our kindergarten programs are an all-day experience, meeting every day during the traditional school year. Each class is taught by a highly qualified, accredited teacher who is supported by a full time educational aide. We focus on the individual child as we prepare the students for their elementary school journey, and approach learning with curiosity, engagement and persistence, invention and imagination, and cognitive skills. We offer an age appropriate academic environment with play.

THE CURRICULUM

The Houghton Mifflin 4K Integrated Curriculum series is used with our youngest children. The program contains developmentally appropriate literature, lessons and activities that are designed to nurture growth in all areas of development. A variety of additional resources are used to support and challenge students to meet their individual needs.

The 5K program covers standards-based content with emphasis on cultivating student’s 21st century skills including creativity, collaboration, communication, critical thinking and innovation.  Students receive age appropriate instruction in Literacy, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Religion.

Special subject teachers instruct the children in art, music, physical education, library, Spanish, and technology. A guidance counselor provides a program that enriches our students with important life and social skills.
