SERVING OUR COMMUNITY

The mission statement of Edgewood Campus School speaks to our commitment to provide service to our campus and other communities. Each month, ECS selects a special service project to complete, and have maintained a global partnership with the Sisters of St. Therese and to their school in Tanzania since 1990.

(Pictured Above) Recently, our middle school students worked with the City of Madison Parks Division to help clean up the parks and shoreline, and left messages of support and encouragement on many of the sidewalks.

(Pictured Below) ECS filled 20 baskets to donate to the Neighborhood House Community Center for their Thanksgiving Basket Collection. Thank you to everyone who contributed food as well as their service sorting! Service takes many forms!

SERVICE REQUIREMENTS

As a part of the ECS religion curriculum, a component of service is an expectation of students in grades six through eight. “We believe that the religious development of each student should be exemplified by service to the school community, as well as the civic community” (ECS religion curriculum).

Middle school students are required to contribute a certain number service hours each year: Grade 6 must complete 5 hours, grade 7 must complete 10 hours, and grade 8 must complete 15 hours of service throughout the school year.

Some service projects can be completed in conjunction with the school, while others might not. Service may include babysitting, raking leaves or mowing lawns for your neighbors, service within your parish or church, community projects, etc. Volunteer work is service work.
